Genetic basis of atherosclerosis

Atherosclerosis can cause stroke or myocardial infarct. Research in our Lab aims to identify genetic, epigenetic and environmental risk factors that promote atherosclerosis in order to improve prevention, identify molecular and cellular pathways that may be targeted therapeutically. We critically evaluate the role of genotype as a tool for prediction of disease risk and drug response. The approach is integrative, interdisciplinary and collaborative.
